Enriched Air (Nitrox) Course
The PADI Enriched Air Diver course, commonly known as the Nitrox course, is one of the most popular diving specialties. This course teaches you how to safely use enriched air (Nitrox) to extend your no-decompression limits, reduce nitrogen absorption, and enjoy longer dives.
Course Plan:
1- Self-study online (through the PADI Learning Portal)
2- Practical Training: The course includes both theoretical and practical components, covering the following key areas:
- Understanding the benefits and limitations of enriched air.
- Learning how to analyze and verify the oxygen content in your tank.
- Setting your dive computer for Nitrox use.
- Learning proper procedures for planning and executing Nitrox dives.
The Course Includes:
- Understanding the physiological effects of breathing enriched air.
- Learning how to avoid oxygen toxicity and manage exposure limits.
- Mastering the use of oxygen analyzers to check gas mixtures.
- Planning dives using enriched air with different oxygen percentages.
- Learning proper handling and labeling of Nitrox cylinders.
Course Duration:
The PADI Nitrox course can be completed in as little as one day, as it mainly focuses on theory and practical gas analysis rather than in-water training.
Eligibility:
- Age: 12 years or older.
- Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) is required.
Certification Benefits:
After completing the PADI Enriched Air Diver course, you will be certified to use Nitrox mixtures up to 40% oxygen, allowing you to:
- Extend your bottom time.
- Reduce surface intervals between dives.
- Experience less nitrogen buildup, leading to reduced post-dive fatigue.
This course is ideal for divers who want to maximize their time underwater and is especially beneficial for wreck, deep, and liveaboard diving trips.
